Hot Humid 2023 Summer: busy and productive July

This is our third summer or "officially", the second full summer in the US. In 2021 summer, Emily was in RJ Grey's summer school, trying to accommodate the new school. Two girls also explored tennis for the first time in their life. At the end of day, we are happy to see girls land on rowing and squash. Rowing teaches teamwork, and suqash trains consistency and resilience.

2023 summer, Emily finished 6 weeks of the rowing program this summer; Alice attended different summer camps, including animal science, life aquatic, and GPS geography. Now, we are in Stamford, Connecticut, for a Squash Silver tournament at the weekend. I could not imagine two girls picking up squash so quickly, and our family adopted new life with the fattest steps. Of course, the main driving force absolutely comes from Jolie to make all of the things happen.

Summer actually does not count as a rowing season. The summer regattas have more chances to row as single or double boats and have lots of fun. When I sent Emily to Providence, RI, for Sweeps and Sculls Regatta, I also walked through Brown University since it is near Seekonk River. Of course, I heard about Brown University, but I have never been there before. Walking from the riverside to Brown also led me through the streets of Providence. All streets seem like historical areas, and this made me feel like Princeton University, where we visited there and met some friends last summer. 

Alice attended the first Squahs U15 Gold tournament in July at Chelsea Pier, CT. It was tough for her even though she improved her skill a lot. It has been one year since she started private lessons, though. However, attending the tournament is a sort of process to make you understand you need to continue your hard work!

2023 summer, we are still here, and we hope two girls can keep going on their new lives joyfully and confidently in this new soil.

How Do You Measure A Year

This is the documentary made by Jay Rosenblatt. I watched this documentary (only ~30 min) on Max this week. I found it unintentionally and it really caught my eye.

Nearly 30 min documentary actually concentrated the 17 years life of Jay's daughter, Ella, from 2 years old to 18 years old. At the first, I found the the girl was growing and used the words and sentences more and more precisely and rich. 

The first moving moment was "Family" is always her love. It really reminded me that how important we created a lovely home for Emily and Alice. Ella also said she had a lot of fights with her father, but they always made up. Ha~ it is a really life!

When Ella was 14 years old, she said: I am not really happy, but I am working on it. I think this is the teenager. When I saw Ella's facial expression (14 or 15 years old), I really could understand sort of cynical, emo, or negative feeling of teenager. 

The most touching part is at Ella's 18 years old when she was going to the college. The words are simple and short, but really make me to feel the love between Father and Daughter.
